Star Wars 8 – The Last Jedi

Star Wars Episode 8 – The Last Jedi

Star Wars Episode 8 is due for UK release on the Author of this blog’s birthday. Although the author also expects to be working on his birthday. So what does the next, the eighth Star Wars Movie in the series have in store for us. No doubt there will be some amazing special effects and a story line to follow on from Star Wars Episode 7. Lego are on board again with the Star Wars Franchise and Silly Billy’s received their delivery of Star Wars Episode 8 products from the Danish Toy Company earlier than most, August in fact, prompting one very keen Star Wars and LEGO fan to drive from London to purchase a Resistance Bomber 75188.

It is mentioned that Princes Harry and William have cameo roles in the latest Star Wars movie, the royal pair visited the set of The Last Jedi in April 2016 and were rumoured to have filmed a scene in disguise. Now lead actor John Boyega, who plays reformed stormtrooper Finn, has confirmed that he shared a scene with the royal duo  “wrapped in stormtroopers costumes”

So another date for your diary will be December 15th 2017, not only to buy the author of this blog a birthday present, but also to get to the Cinema and watch the opening of Star Wars Episode 8 – The Last Jedi
Official Trailer Below

Star Wars The Force Awakens 2015, scored a pretty reasonable 8.1 on IMDB and personally I though the return of  Star Wars was pretty impressive. Rogue One (2016), on the other hand slipped a couple of notches at only 7.9 on IMDB and again released on the author’s birthday, 15/12/2016.
As far as the new  Star Wars Episode 8 – The Last Jedi goes it is anyone’s guess as to whether it will be a hit or get massively slated by the critics. A Customer today said of Star Wars Episode 8, “I’m not holding out much hope..”

Personally, as the Film is being released on one of the most auspicious days of the year (the author’s birthday) then we believe it will be a great hit, however only time will tell.

Mom finds forgotten 30-year-old ‘Star Wars’ Christmas gift in drawer

In 1982, a present went missing from under Reddit user OMG party’s Christmas tree.

His mom had accidentally misplaced the X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker action figure the budding Star Wars fan wanted.

Fast forward 33 years later. This year, the redditor’s mom found the gift lurking in the back of a drawer in her house, still in the box she bought it in with the original K-Mart price tag.

Only now, instead of being a cheap kids’ stocking stuffer, it’s a highly sought-after Star Wars collectible that could be worth hundreds if you could ever part with it. Surprise! Merry Christmas!

“My mom bought this back in the 80’s and forgot about it in the back of a drawer,” The redditor wrote on Imgur. “Today she gave it to me as a Christmas gift! I’m amazed! Going to be holding on to this forever!”

In an email to the Daily Dot, he said:

Back in probably 81 or 82 my Mom bought this for me, knowing that I was crazy about Star Wars toys. Most of my childhood memories are of playing with Star Wars figures. For whatever reason my Mom ended up putting it in a drawer and just held on to it all these years waiting for the right time!

Knowing how excited I was for the new Star Wars film, she decided that this was the year!

So that’s the story! I’m pretty surprised, that’s a long time to hold on waiting for the right moment!

In terms of value, someone on my Facebook feed said $500 but I think that’s most likely WAY WAY over inflated. It’s got some weathering that would keep it from being considered “New in the box” to collectors. Not that it matters, there is absolutely NO way that I would ever sell this. No amount of money is worth it’s value to me as a gift from my Mom!

The X-Wing fighter pilot Luke is one of a series of Star Wars action figures produced by the Kenner toy company between 1978 and 1985. Fans refer to this as “the vintage line.” The X-Wing version of Luke originally debuted with Kenner’s X-Wing model before getting his own box and costume in 1979. As action figures go, this one is pretty iconic.

Since OMG party’s gift is still in its original packaging, known as a 20/21 back card, it’s considerably more valuable as a collector’s item than any of the millions of similar X-wing pilot Luke’s that have been taken out and played with. (In collectors’ jargon, these toys are “loose.”) And since it features a special promotion for Return of the Jedi, it could easily be worth several hundred dollars.

Not bad for a mom who left her son’s present in a drawer for three decades. It’s not every day you get to surprise your kid with an amazing vintage action figure; but then that’s what the magic of Christmas and Star Wars at Christmas is all about.

Imgur user doomhandle shared his recently completed Tyrant Imperial Star Destroyer and it’s awesome. Measuring 4 ft, 7 in (1.4 m) long and weighing over 70 pounds (32 kg); it also features a three-level interior with characters, ships and removable sections.

The design is based on the 2014 LEGO Star Destroyer Set (75055) and the custom-design was built entirely with readily available LEGO pieces. It’s about 20 times the size of the official LEGO Star Destroyer set which allows for a lot more customization inside.

I’ve included exterior and interior shots below, but be sure to check out the full 45-picture album on Imgur where doomhandle goes into far more detail about the build and components of the ship.
